MTech Announces WellTech - Our New Wellness Program - (7/1/2007)
|
In May MTech announced its new Wellness Program. The program is designed to help employees find out what their personal health risks are, if any, and can then offer advice of steps that can be taken to improve their health. Anyone choosing to participate in this program was given a $25 gift certificate to REI and is also eligible for the annual $100 Wellness Reimbursement.
The program started with voluntary Health Risk Assessments where beginning stats were taken. The assessments included a blood draw and various tests, blood pressure check, height and weight measurements and a body fat percentage measurement. The assessments were offered at 3 locations around Colorado to make it as convenient as possible for all employees to attend.
The results of the assessments were discussed at a meeting on June 28 with one-on-one counselors available to answer any questions someone might have. If you were unable to attend the meeting, your results will be mailed to the address listed on your assessment form.
The results have also been calculated to show the health of MTech employees as a whole. None of the results are linked to a specific person, but rather show any trends seen among the employees. This gives MTech the opportunity to offer relevant resources to employees about ways to improve their health

MTech Awards Annual Safety Award - (7/1/2007)
|
Emilio is being recognized for his implementation of a fall protection plan at the Westin Resort and Spa in Avon. The plan was needed to safely move Boiler Plant equipment.
This plan included the coordination and removal of a strategically located pre-cast concrete panel directly over the boiler and cooling tower plants. Through this hole; the boilers, pumps, tanks, prefabricated pipe, cooling towers, and more were craned in from the ground level which was two stories below. This strategy presented two fall hazards; one which was working directly on the edge of the building directing riggers and the second, a hole in the deck down to the equipment rooms below. Not to mention the other over head hazards and blind areas.
Moving the equipment was an all day process that required a lot of planning and even more team work. Emilio helped to coordinate team members at many different stations, using radios and signals to communicate during this equipment move to ensure everyone was aware of the dangers and the plan to keep everyone safe.
Thank you Emilio, and crew for recognizing the hazard, taking the time to make and implement a plan to mitigate an otherwise very dangerous condition.

MTech Gets in on the Holiday Spirit - (1/23/2007)
|
This past holiday season, MTech hosted a Giving Tree in the lobby of the Denver office. Employees purchased gifts for the Tennyson Center for Children and the Harmony Angels, who give gifts to residents of area nursing homes.
The Tennyson Center for Children is an organization that helps children and their families that are victims of abuse. They provide treatment, education and advocacy programs to help end abuse and neglect. Operation Santa 2006 was the most successful campaign they’ve had. Every child received something on their list, in addition to the classrooms and cottages receiving some needed supplies too.
Harmony Angels is a non-profit organization that helps children and seniors. Throughout the year, Harmony Angles has projects ranging from brining gifts to nursing homes on Mother’s and Father’s Day to collecting coats and clothing for needy children. This year’s Angel Trees for Happy Holidays collected 212 gifts for seniors in nursing homes, as well as 20 fruit baskets.
Thanks to the generosity of the MTech Employees many gifts were donated and we helped to make the holidays brighter for at least 30 children and seniors.

WILLIS AWARD
CONSTRUCTION SAFETY & EXCELLENCE AWARD PROGRAM
Congratulations to each and every employee of MTech! Because of your efforts, MTech has been awarded 1st Place for this National Award!! That is correct, in our category of specialty contractors, we were chosen out of hundreds of applicants across the entire United States.
Why? Our data proves it. Our EMR continues to drop while our workload increases. In simple terms, we promote a culture of safety. We have an obligation to look out for each other every day. More importantly, we have a healthy culture which embraces our loss control program.
Jay Kupec and Thomas Dean were honored to give a presentation to a national awards panel of judges. We only had 15 minutes; 5 minutes for the presentation, and 10 minutes for questions and answers. How do you describe our company culture to someone you have never met in 5 minutes? Our approach was to share with the judges our belief that because people spend a tremendous amount of time at their work, that work must be worthwhile, productive, and safe. We must provide an environment and culture where a safe workplace takes precedence over all things. A place where the priorities are; safety, quality, and productivity - in that order. Profit will follow. A place where we are willing to share information and help people in need.
We know we have the majority (if not all) of our co-workers who add to this positive culture every day. We have a cultural momentum to a point that new employees benefit & learn from it. Cramming this into 5 minutes was challenging!
Thanks again to all employees. This is an honor truly earned by every single employee at MTech.
